What landlords should avoid in BTL mortgages

Landlords with a fixed rate or discounted rate buy-to-let mortgage should always avoid allowing their BTL mortgage being moved automatically to the BTL mortgage provider’s standard variable rate (SVR) product after any introductory period has finished. 

This is because a buy-to-let lender’s SVR is likely to be over 1% and more likely 1.5% above the market rate, meaning that a landlord is paying significantly more than they need to on their buy-to-let mortgage.
